The Spiritual Battle: How to Effectively Cast Out Demons
Before I share what happened in my own deliverance experience in my home with my niece, it's important to explain how this young girl came to live with me, as spiritual warfare doesn't just happen in the air. It’s often rooted in relationships, bloodlines, emotional ties, and spiritual contracts, whether made consciously or not.
At the time, her mother was living in a very rural part of the Dominican Republic. I had gotten to know her after discovering that my daughter’s father had other children he wasn’t caring for or even acknowledging. I reached out and, over time, we became friends, mostly out of compassion for her situation, since she was in her late teens, ten years younger than me.
I told her that if I ever became stable, I would bring her daughter to be raised alongside mine. I meant it with sincerity. When that time finally came, I made it happen, I worked hard to do so, even with all the sabotaging the child’s father was attempting in private while acting like he was supporting the idea of bringing her. When I say sabotage, I mean even bribing friends they knew at the consulate in Dominican Republic to delay the paperwork, and claim they misplaced it and even deleting appointment times. Lucky for me, I saved emails, and created double appointment slots to catch every last “glitch”.
Mind you, It had been 3 years since I returned from New York, and had started from zero. I was mocked and laughed at by the father’s family for trying to rebuild my life and aspiring to bring her, as they probably figured I would never re-gain stability. After all, when I arrived back to BCN, I eventually ended up sleeping on the father’s parent’s old mattress on the floor with my two children, because we had nowhere else to go. They couldn’t picture me back on my feet much less sponsoring anyone. But by the grace of God, and to their astonishment, I built myself up again. I secured residency in Spain, and eventually, I was in a position to sponsor the child and fulfill my word.
During the process of doing her immigration paperwork, her father and I became entangled again briefly and that’s when I conceived my youngest daughter. In hindsight, I can clearly see that it was a manipulative tactic and, most likely, a spiritual access point; a way for him to gain license in the spirit. It was a form of narcissistic control, possibly intended to bind me emotionally and spiritually to keep me tethered because he felt I was losing interest in him. Though, I also take accountability for my own part in allowing that access.
So, I had been preparing to raise three children, my niece, my daughter and my son (who had been born 2 years after but was another relationship, where I married, then separated from his father. In the end, due to the last entanglement with the girls’ father, I ended up raising four. Two daughters by him, this young girl, his daughter from another woman, and my son from another relationship in between.
Still, something felt off, right before I started doing the papers. Her mother did something that struck me spiritually, as quite dangerous and peculiar. Although knowing that I detested another one of the father’s exes; a woman who had been openly disrespectful to her as well and was also known for practicing witchcraft; she allowed her daughter and the woman’s daughter to pose together for photos and go for a drive around town, as if they were all one happy family. Granted they are sisters but this sudden chumminess was suspicious.
I had imagined the detestable ex concocted the idea, because although she never wanted the father to acknowledge my niece, she took the time to travel to the rural countryside to visit for the photo to post on Facebook. It was so that I would see it, as she knew I was sponsoring her. Me sponsoring this child meant that the detestable ex’s kids would be the only remaining children of the 6, the father had, that would remain on the island; as the rest would therefore all be in Europe, which infuriated her.
In the spirit, it didn’t sit right. But back then, in my spiritual blindness, I thought my niece’s mom was just manipulated into taking the pictures. I didn’t fully understand that evil was flaunting itself before it moved.
Looking back, I realize those pictures were a spiritual announcement of some kind of unholy alliance forming. Perhaps they intended to use her daughter as a vessel, someone who could siphon energy from my home or gain access to blessings meant for my household, under the cover of innocence.
Even though I had taken her in with a pure heart, I now see that her presence may have been spiritually entangled with an agenda I did not initially perceive. And the manifestation that happened during our prayer confirmed that something deep and demonic had been attached to her, for who knows how long.
Demons may be invisible, but the way they leave is often very visible.
Physical signs such as burping, vomiting, shaking, or unusual bodily movements, in Christian deliverance ministry, are symptoms widely documented and taught as spiritual evidence of a demon evacuating the body. Many explain that retching or vomiting can accompany deliverance, and it has biblical and historical precedent. Documented cases from Vita Patrum describe individuals vomiting foul substances mixed with blood before being freed from torments. A contemporary deliverance counselor lists coughing, yawning, sneezing, and even diarrhea as signs that a demon is departing.
Afterward, the person should feel a subsequent sense of peace or freedom and a loss of symptoms or afflictions that had aligned with the demonic contract or spiritual weight.
Experts affirm these signs repeatedly appear during baptisms of the Holy Spirit or exorcism sessions, especially when strongholds are broken.
A month before I delivered my Niece, her mother whom I have on social media and have always sent pictures to, strangely asked me to send her the child’s Spanish Id to take out an appointment in Barcelona with an odd urgency to get her passport renewed. What made me suspicious was that I knew that in order to take out this appointment,
NO PICTURE ID WAS NECCESARY to take out this appointment.
One would have had to take out several notarized documents that I knew they didn’t have, to show at this appointment.
So, I immediately became suspicious. Also, while I was in Barcelona, the forementioned passport had already been expired a year and a half and at no point during that time, did she ever ask me beforehand or immediately after expiring to renew it. Though, now that I had left the place of my targeting and proximity to whatever was demonically happening in that city, just in time for the anniversary of many of my targeting events; they (the mom and the father) seemed to try to create a fake story to make me bring the child back to Barcelona to do these documents. Though, I was in France and had been there for at least 7 months! They used social media, other relatives to pressure me, constant phone calls, insults, pity, every manipulative tactic and distraction possible. I ignored it all and blocked them all.
I was not going to participate because it all sounded shady, and the child now 13, was not interested in going either. Mind you I had always been responsible for all appointments and documents of the child all those 8 years with minimal involvement from either parent.
I recognized the timing: it was close to the Lions Gate portal; a spiritually active season when many Warlocks renew pacts or sacrifices in the dark realm. Trust me, that over the years I realized that it was not only the detestable Ex involved in the witchcraft but the father as well and I even believe he was the main Warlock trying to make the detestable Ex seem like the culprit, so that I would never guess it was him all along.
They had likely been trying to renew a demonic contract tied to her image; But I refused to give her photo, and I ignored their sudden urgency. It became so extreme that she even strangely claimed she was going to send money from the Dominican Rep. so that my niece could have a phone. That was completely something she had never done and was something she probably could not do seeing as she didn’t earn enough to send the amount a phone would cost in Europe, I had always covered all of the expenses, and everything demonstrated something shady going on. This was not about communication as she only called once a week to check in, this was about having me again accept the money to come into agreement. As the child was under my household, she was under my covering. Hence, why it was necessary for me to formally agree to send a photo and agree to accept the money, which I didn’t.
Immediately, after I had casted the demon out of my niece, the communication and urgency stopped. Silence. They disappeared.
Deliverance is not reserved for pastors or gifted ministers, it’s available to every believer who comes with faith, God-given identity, and surrendered authority. It costs nothing but humility and obedience.
That evening, I gathered the children to stand with me in front of the bathroom mirror. We were speaking affirmations and decrees of identity and truth rooted in the Word of God. After the affirmations, we shifted into prayer. What I led was a Court of Heaven-style prayer, filled with scripture and legal declarations.
We proclaimed that our spiritual inheritance had been restored, ancestral pacts had been severed, generational witchcraft had been renounced, and soul ties and rituals done to us without our consent were cancelled by the blood of Jesus Christ. It was a deep, and intentional prayer, designed to close every door and reclaim legal authority.
That’s when things shifted.
My niece suddenly claimed she had the urgent need to use the bathroom while looking in the mirror. I told her she needed to wait till after I finished praying; but instead, she began to shake violently, her body leaned forward, and she nearly struck her head on the sink faucet. My other children stood in shock and my youngest even began to cry.
Immediately, I discerned the spirit. I laid my hand on her head and commanded whatever demon was present to leave in the name of Jesus Christ.
When the prayer ended, I told her to go ahead and sit on the toilet, but instead of defecating, she began to projectile vomit clear water-like liquid. It wasn’t bile. It wasn’t digested food. It was pure, almost crystalline, except for small bits of lentils left from what she ate for lunch that morning.
Her face was pale. Her lips turned blue. It was a terrifying image, I was not afraid but rather shocked. I had delivered her. I felt paranoid days after and eventually made the older kids in the house do a 3 day fast just in case.
I continued to pray over her and made hyssop tea, declaring it sanctified and healing in Jesus’ name. I gave it to her to drink.
Interesting enough immediately after the deliverance of my niece, I had several prophetic dreams revealing things done in the spirit to cause the targeting and other things losses I had faced months before, that seemed to have been cloaked or blocked from me in the spirit before I delivered her.
Many times, demons and unclean spirits are sent to fulfill a specific job. Some of which may be to occult what is being done especially if they know the target has the prophetic gifts to dream and see them beforehand. I may not exactly know what the role of that unclean spirit was, but as per my dreams, I saw that in the spirit I had been marked by someone else’s ancestral “tag” I dreamt I had on a black dress, torn open at the side, and a bloody period pad had been stuck on to the side of my leg that wasn’t mine. Intuitively, that meant in the spirit, I would incur a basic destiny swap of karma with someone else’s bloodline. That was one of several dreams that were exposed to me.
These pacts demand payment in the spirit realm. I stood in my God-given authority and declared that in the name of Jesus, we would not pay for covenants we never made.
In our home, before this we had often experienced demonic dreams of eating and spiritual defilement, and backwardness, all tactics of the enemy to steal, contaminate, and delay. Now there was no denying who the parties involved were causing this.
Destiny swapping is real. Photos, names, hair, birthdays, and even digital images can be used to represent a person in demonic rituals. Many times, the enemy tries to replicate someone’s image or identity to steal blessings meant for them. Unfortunately, so many things happen to the people of God because we are spiritually blind. The enemy uses our ignorance against us to do many things to us in the spirit. Warlocks and Witches discover our spiritual gifts before we do and try to take them before we even understand what is happening.
But Jesus said:
“I give you authority… to overcome all the power of the enemy.” — Luke 10:19
Keys to Effective Deliverance
I didn’t fully realize what I was doing at the time. I was simply speaking out in faith and authority, declaring truth and citing Scripture as if presenting a legal case. I was moved by a sense of strength in my spirit, not knowing that my words were activating something deeper. I had unknowingly completed the four key steps of deliverance: recognition, repentance, renunciation, and release. Without planning it, my spirit was leading the process, and the power of the Word, combined with my authority in Christ, opened the door for a real and undeniable breakthrough.
1. Repent
We repented for personal sins and stood in the gap for ancestral sins. We confessed all open doors, known or unknown and humbled ourselves before God.
2. Renounce
We verbally cancelled every demonic contract. We renounced witchcraft, ancestral vows, false identities, and rituals. Every spiritual legal right was revoked by the blood of Jesus.
“I renounce every curse and soul tie passed through my bloodline. I reject every destiny swap or manipulation. I belong to Jesus Christ alone.”
3. Cast Out
I used the authority Jesus spoke of and gave me and commanded!
“In the name of Jesus, every unclean spirit must leave. You have no place here.”
The vomiting, shaking, and physical changes confirmed the spirit had no more right to remain.
4. Refill with the Holy Spirit
Afterward, we prayed again. We invited the Holy Spirit to fill every place where darkness had been. I gave her sanctified hyssop tea, a symbol of purification from Scripture, and declared restoration over her body and soul.
I was also on my 16th day of my 40 day fast, that I normally do during this summer season, which should also be mentioned.
Some people also cite that Speaking in tongues, fasting, praying, and invoking the blood of Jesus are spiritual tools with strong biblical backing for deliverance. When coupled together, they create a divine environment where deliverance is facilitated, authority is activated, and healing is released.
Scripture affirms this:

“And these signs will follow them that believe: In my name shall they cast out devils…”
Mark 16:17“Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.”
Matthew 17:21
Ley Lines & Territorial Freedom
Once upon a time it was said by crossing water certain hexes couldn’t reach you. This isn’t necessarily the case. What is the case is that many spiritual teachers understand that demonic influence can also hold territory, aligning to corrupted ley lines or spiritual grids.
Some deliverance prayers explicitly call for breaking ley lines and silver cords using the name of Jesus. Consider that if something had been done tied to when I was in Barcelona, Possibly the further I moved away from there the weaker the hexes became or were cancelled out entirely, which is why there was this urgency from the Warlock and demonic agents to lure me back if even briefly to complete whatever ritual they wanted to complete.
As Christians we are called to occupy and purify our environment. When walking properties or sacred spaces:
Pray over high-energy areas
Use authority in Jesus’ name
Support with worship music, crystal grids, praying in tongues, or anointing oil.
Modern perceptions of deliverance and exorcism vary widely. In more traditional or Catholic circles, it’s seen as a rare but real phenomenon requiring ecclesiastical approval. In evangelical, Pentecostal, or charismatic communities, deliverance is often understood as part of everyday spiritual warfare, a normal part of walking in authority through Christ. While many secular cultures regard demonic possession as superstition or mental illness, others are experiencing a resurgence of interest in spiritual warfare due to the rise of occult involvement, trauma, addiction, and unexplained oppression that people experience. Social media and testimonies have also helped normalize conversations around deliverance.
Access points for demonic oppression are typically seen as legal grounds; doors opened through sin, trauma, generational curses, occult involvement, unforgiveness, and soul ties. The demonic realm operates in a kind of spiritual legality, where actions outside of God’s covering (including rebellion, dabbling in witchcraft, or deep wounds left unhealed) create footholds for oppression. Deliverance, then, is not simply casting out demons; it often involves confession, renunciation, forgiveness, and the breaking of inner agreements that gave the enemy room to operate. Once these legal rights are revoked, the demons lose their hold and can be expelled, often accompanied by manifestations or deep release in the person receiving deliverance.
Final Word
If I, even in ignorance, was used to cast something out, then anyone walking within the laws of God can be used too. This is why it is critical to be in right standing with the Lord; especially for those called to healing and deliverance. We are living in a time when demonic forces are no longer hiding. They are rampant in media, culture, institutions, homes and in the streets we walk. They are everywhere! It is time for the body of Christ to rise in authority, take hold of the reins, and uphold the Kingdom of God with courage, purity, and truth. The war is spiritual, and we must be spiritually armed.
