Near-Death Experiences: Stories from the Edge of Eternity
Have you ever wondered what lies just beyond the veil of this life? Across cultures and continents, countless people who’ve faced clinical death return with strikingly similar stories: a tunnel of light, a sense of profound peace, life reviews, angelic presence or in some cases, terrifying visions that serve as soul-shaking wake-up calls. These are near-death experiences (NDEs), and they offer a glimpse into something greater than the physical world we see every day.
For some, an NDE is a peaceful journey into a realm of love and light—what they often describe as God’s presence. Others describe floating above their bodies, seeing everything happening around them, or even encountering departed loved ones. These accounts, despite their diversity, share one undeniable element: they transform people. Afterward, many lose their fear of death, re-evaluate their priorities, and become more spiritually aware.
But not all NDEs are blissful. Some report terrifying darkness, a sense of being separated from God, or the weight of every selfish choice. These "hellish" experiences also spark transformation; pushing people to repent, seek God, and change their lives.
Some say the figures and people we encounter at the end of the white tunnel are archons; spiritual forces that force us back into this realm to repeat life. Others say these encounters are genuine connections and that we are not being forced, but choosing to return.
Interestingly, if even demons want to possess human vessels, this would suggest there is something valuable about this earthly experience. Perhaps the purpose is to remember these encounters and our repeated journeys here, to continue growing spiritually. Who really knows how it all works?
The point is, these experiences remind us that we are more than just physical bodies. We embody spirit, consciousness, and a deep connection to something greater than ourselves. It reminds us that eternity is real, and the choices we make in this life echo far beyond it.
From a Christian perspective, NDEs don’t contradict Scripture; they often affirm it. The Bible tells us that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8), and that there is life beyond this world. However, the Bible also warns us not to seek spiritual experiences for their own sake (Deuteronomy 18:10–12).
Some may wonder, “Why are people allowed to return after crossing that boundary?” Perhaps it’s mercy; an invitation to share a warning, or to tell the world: this life is not the end. For others, it’s a second chance to live with eternal purpose.
These stories are Echoes of eternity. Echoes that stir the soul to ask the bigger questions: What am I living for? Who am I trusting in? And where am I going when this life ends?
I remember when I first started meditating around age 26 or 27, I had an out-of-body experience that left a strong impression on me. I felt my consciousness floating above my physical body. With my eyes closed, I could see in the spirit, but when I opened my physical eyes during that semi-sleep paralysis state, I noticed the fan blowing in the room—and it sounded like it was moving in slow motion, similar to what happens when you’re fainting and all sounds become stretched out.
At first, I felt like I was floating near my feet, then slowly drifting up near my head, close to the north side of the room. As I focused on the doorway threshold, I realized my consciousness was moving toward it without me consciously deciding to move. I wasn’t thinking about it, I was simply observing and the longer I looked at the doorway, the closer I drifted toward it.
I was young and scared, so I panicked and called out for God’s help to bring me back. When I returned to my body, my heart was racing like I had just run a marathon. This experience taught me something crucial: our consciousness naturally moves toward what we focus on. This is why we must guard our thoughts carefully.
I had no feet or physical form, I was just a presence, a watcher. Over the years, I’ve had many supernatural experiences, and I’ve heard different explanations about what we see in these states.
At our core, those of us with souls are extensions of God, pure energy and consciousness flowing from a divine source, like a never-ending fountain of life.
In contrast, those who are demonic agents and/or soulless beings, NPCs do not have this connection to God. They lack a soul and therefore do not carry that divine life force within them. Without this connection, they operate only within the limits of this earthly realm and are cut off from the true spiritual source.
The real “superpower” of souled individuals is that we can still tap into divine wisdom, guidance, and heavenly downloads from God. Our souls act like antennas, receiving spiritual messages, protection, and power that help us navigate life beyond the material and unseen battles we face. This connection to God is what makes all the difference, it is the source of true strength.
Some scientists have even attempted to measure the weight of the soul, suggesting that when a person dies, a small but measurable loss of mass occurs as the spirit departs the body. This idea aligns with countless near-death experiences where people describe leaving their physical body and observing it from above, sometimes even in the same room. Others report traveling miles away from their body, visiting relatives, different places, or spiritual realms; what many call astral travel.
Astral travel is not just a mystical notion; it’s an experience some people enter voluntarily or unconsciously. It’s often used by witches and occult practitioners to explore other dimensions or gather information beyond the physical world. In spiritual teachings, this travel is linked to a “silver cord,” a luminous connection tethering the spirit to the body. Cutting this cord, as in the case of Anton LaVey—the founder of the Church of Satan is said to sever this connection, preventing the spirit’s return to the physical body, which shows just how serious and dangerous astral travel can be. According to his daughter Zeena Lavey, her father’s “silver cord” was severed, which resulted in the end of his life.
This story highlights the dangers of astral travel when we are unaware of the spiritual forces trying to access our vessels while we’re out of our bodies. It serves as a warning that without God’s protection, we can become vulnerable to dark influences. This is also why we say that during sleep we are at our most vulnerable, an should serve as a reminder to always pray before entering this state.
In truth, we all engage in a form of astral travel every time we sleep. Our consciousness shifts frequencies and can explore realms beyond our waking awareness. However, depending on our spiritual state and frequency; our closeness to God and purity of heart can determine whether these journeys can be safe or perilous. Those who are not spiritually protected or aligned may encounter negative entities or forces seeking to mislead or harm them. This is why spiritual grounding and faith in God are so essential to navigate these realms safely.
Understanding consciousness as both divine energy and as an extension of God invites us to approach these experiences with reverence and caution. It reminds us that while these mysteries exist, our ultimate safety and guidance come from God alone.
Quantum science increasingly suggests that consciousness transcends the physical limits of space and linear time. Our awareness isn’t confined to the here and now; it can shift instantly across distances and moments, almost like teleportation. Nikola Tesla hinted that the mind could access different realities or timelines without needing a physical body to travel.
This understanding helps explain Near-Death Experiences, in that during these moments, consciousness is no longer tethered to linear time or physical space but accesses a broader spiritual reality. This ultimately means death isn’t an end but a shift into another reality, a transition that holds no real finality or reason for fear. This confirms the concept of eternal life.
Yes, Souls may continue existing eternally. Though be trapped in lower realms or cycles of unrest for eternity. This is not the objective though, the objective is to have Eternal life through Christ because, it lifts us vibrationally, spiritually, and completely transforms us. It frees us from being stuck and gives us a true, lasting connection with God, offering healing, purpose, and ultimate freedom in every dimension of our being. This is the true ETERNAL LIFE.
In the end, life in this realm is fragile, and time is short. What we do here shapes not only our physical reality but also the trajectory of our consciousness, this eternal essence that transcends time and space. Near-death experiences reveal our thoughts, focus, and spiritual alignment determine where our consciousness journeys next, making every moment a vital step toward growth, healing, or stagnation. Choosing to walk with God grounds us in eternal purpose, ensuring that our consciousness is uplifted beyond this fleeting life into true, everlasting freedom.
